Artist: A Benefit to Restore Red Hook, Brooklyn
December 2nd, 2012

Tin House and the Portland-Brooklyn Project are hosting a fundraiser to benefit one of New York’s communities most devastated by Hurricane Sandy: Red Hook, Brooklyn. The event title “Defiance,” shares the name of a fundraiser held on November 14th in the Gowanus section of Brooklyn, also benefitting Red Hook.  All proceeds will be given to Red Hook Initiative, which provides residents with emergency clothing and food, and Restore Red Hook, a group that is helping to restore Red Hook’s small businesses.

The authors scheduled to appear include Jon Raymond, Karen Karbo, Courtenay Hameister, Nancy Rommelmann, and Peter Carlin. Performances by Casey Neill and the Kin Trio with special guest Noah Bernstein are planned.

Fare generously donated by Mother’s Bistro, Cupcake Jones, Kenny & Zukes and Ristretto Roasters. Full bar available.
